Monday Muse - Brigitte Bardot

Definition : A person or personified force who is the source of inspiration for a creative artist.

Growing up, my mom loved everything French. French music, food, and fashion. I remember being young, probably around 8 or 9 and watching a documentary on TV with her and hearing someone mention Brigitte Bardot. I was always a curious child, so I looked her up because I needed to know who they were talking about. I watched some of her films, listened to her music and from then on, I have been fascinated by the French beauty.

Brigitte was born in Paris in 1934 and started acting in the early 1950's. This is really when she started to rise to fame after being in many comedy films. Many called her the French Marilyn Monroe because she started with acting and then became a huge sex symbol, also for her blond hair.

Much of the reason Bardot was considered a sex symbol is because of the depiction of her in many photos taken by Sam Levin in her early career. Towards the end of the 50's and into the 60's, she started modeling more and became famous in not just France by all over the world. In the 60's, Bardot also started a music career. If you haven't listened to any of her music, you should!

Brigitte is one of my muses because of her impeccable style. Throughout the years, her style changed with the decade perfectly. She wasn't afraid to look sexy and she did it in the most tasteful way. Some of her many characteristics she was know for was her voluminous blonde hair, her tiny waist and bedroom eyes.

Today Brigitte is in her 80's and is an animal right activist (which she's been doing since the 1970's). She will always be a muse to many and known as one of the most beautiful (and in my opinion, unrated) sex symbols.

What could be more beautiful than a dear old lady growing wise with age? Every age can be enchanting, provided you live within it.
