Monday Muse - Lana Del Rey
Definition : A person or personified force who is the source of inspiration for a creative artist.
It's July!!! How crazy is that? We are over half way through this year, and it has just flown by! Also, I hope you guys have been enjoying the Monday Muse series I've been putting out every week. I just want it to be a burst of inspiration from women that I look up to! And to build a conversation for you to tell me who you look up to!
Our first Monday Muse of this month is Lana Del Rey. Now if you haven't heard of Lana Del Rey, you have 100% been living under a rock for the past 5 years.
Lana Del Rey (born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant) is a singer/songwriter and in my opinion, one of the best voices of the generation. Not only does she have a beautiful melodic almost vintage sounding voice, but she also has incredible lyrics that are like poetic diary entries.
If you couldn't already tell from some of these pictures, fashion wise, Lana is very inspired by vintage fashion and women of the 50's and 60's. She often wears vintage mini dresses on stage and in the beginning of her career, she often wore her hair in big 60's beehives.
Lana has become such a fashion icon over the past few years that Mulberry even created a handbag inspired by her called the Del Rey. In addition to that, she also sits front row at fashion shows such as Versace.
Lana is one of my muses first of all because of her incredible music. If you haven't listen to it, do yourself a favor and listen to it right now. She has such a way with words and creating a scene and story in every one of her songs. I also relate to her a lot because of her love for vintage things, Americana culture and Los Angeles.
And last but not least, Lana has great street style. She loves wearing jeans or denim shorts and always looks cute and put together, a lot of times with small vintage touches.
P.S. Lana also has a new album called Lust For Life coming out on July 21, so make sure to have a listen when it comes out!
