What I've Been Reading #2

I've been bit by the reading bug again! The last time I posted one of these was near the beginning of this year, which is a while ago. So I wanted to continue the series and let you know some of the things I've been reading and what's on the list to read next!

I have watched Arden Rose on Youtube for a few years and I have always loved her videos! Maybe it’s because I find some similarities in us! We are both of similar ages, have a love for things quirky and things that some would deem as “hipster”. Also, we both have English boyfriends! So when I found out she was writing a book, I couldn’t wait to read it! At first, I was afraid the book was going to be geared for a longer audience. By younger, I mean like 13. But the book ended up being the perfect quick read for someone in their early 20’s like me! The book is about being an adult… well almost. It’s more about trying to be an adult and the trails and tribulations of someone who just became an “adult,” if that makes sense. She talks about the best way to decorate your first apartment and how to handling dating in the online world. And it is just perfect. It’s an easy read, really conversational and only about 200 pages! I finished it in a day. Arden has a way of writing in a tone that sounds like she is talking just to you. She was also extremely open and honest about her life which I found really admirable. If you are looking for an enjoyable read and looking to actually get some really good advice, I would highly recommend it.

What I'm ReadingThe Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band by Motley Crue

If you have read this blog before, you know that I am a huge rock music fan. All rock music! My favorite 80's hard rock band however is Motley Crue. So when I found this book, I knew I had to read it. It's been sitting on my bookshelf for months because I've had a few other books I wanted to finish first, but I'm so excited it's finally time for me to read it. The book is a biography, written by the members of the band and it is considered by many as the one of the best rock bios of all time. I'm only about a chapter in and it's already amazing. Each member of the band writes different parts of the story and it really does tell "the dirt."

What I Will ReadElvis and Me by Priscilla Beaulieu Presley

Now let me start out by saying, not everyone loves this book. When I first started to really like Elvis, I watched the movie Elvis and Me, based on this book, and I enjoyed it, but I did also find it a bit strange. After reading a lot of reviews on the book and the movie, people have said there are a lot of inconsistencies. Elvis did met Priscilla when she was only 14 and that is where a lot of the issues start. I 100% do not agree with the fact that they started dating when she was so young, but I do find the story really interesting and I'm also interested in how lightly it was taken that Elvis was with someone so young. If that happened today, he would be in jail. So I'm curious to see how reading this book goes. Apparently it is very different from what is said in "Child Bride", which has information that people believe is probably more true. So after reading this, I may read that one as well.

Have you read any of these books? If so, what do you think about them? Comment below any book recommendations too!
