Testing Recipes - Gluten Free Crazy Dough Cinnamon Rolls

Let's be real, not everything we try to make will be amazing. And this recipe was definitely one of the failed ones! I've been telling Jaye for weeks that I've been craving cinnamon rolls so I wanted to try and find a gluten free version! I have only made gluten free cinnamon rolls once, and they were worse than these! They were hard as rocks. Seriously, I threw them away and they made the loudest noise as they hit the bottom of the trash can.

So I thought it would be a good idea to try a different recipe. I use Pinterest to search for recipes 99% of the time. So while digging through Pinterest, I realized that I pinned a recipe for "Gluten Free Crazy Dough". This dough is supposed to be your all-purpose mixture for bread, rolls, pizza and many others. Cinnamon rolls were also on this list, so I thought this would be the perfect recipe to try. 


It started off okay! The dough came together quite nicely and I thought I would finally be able to conquer cinnamon rolls. But then, to my demise, the dough wouldn't rise. 


But I kept on going and hoped for the best. 


As they were baking, I realized they looked a bit dry but at this point, there was no way to change that. 


So in my last effort to try and make these rolls, I covered them with icing. That didn't help! 

I don't know what I did wrong, but they were hard, dry, flavorless and I was so upset! Reading the comments on the original recipe seemed promising because a lot of people succeeded and said their treats were delicious. 

Long story short, I really wanted to write this post to let you know that not everything you make will be perfect. Some recipes are trial and error. And sometimes they just don't work at all. And that's okay!
