Let's Talk About Adulting
Let's be real, no one really likes adulting. Whether it's doing your taxes, going to work when you feel crappy or just keeping your apartment clean, I don't think anyone jumps for joy when they have adult responsibilities. But we do it, because that's what being an adult is about. Not everything about being an adult sucks though, only some stuff!
The reason why I'm bringing all of this up is because I had a stressful week last week, a week full of adulting! I moved to a new place, which was both fun and a little stressful. I have been dealing with some visa stuff and was on the phone forever with a bunch of people who were no help. I have to go to the post office, the bank, the grocery store, ect. If you are an adult, you know what I mean, sometimes there are weeks where you have a laundry list of things to do and it feels so overwhelming.
Trust me, I'd much rather be in bed in pajamas watching old episodes of The Bachelorette with a glass of rosé and a bowl of popcorn. But then I realize how when I was a kid, I couldn't wait to be an adult. I couldn't wait to live on my own and have my own responsibilities. And that is when I calm down and realize how lucky I am to be an adult. When I was younger, I felt so stuck, like I wasn't progressing but now that I'm finally in my 20's, I realize how much I have done and how much I have grown as a person.
If you are stuck or are struggling when you have to do adult things, just think back to when you were younger and how badly you wanted to be in the place that you are right now. Do I love standing in line at the bank? No. Do I like calling customer service and being on hold for an hour? Hell no. Am I okay with the fact that this is what be an adult really is? Absolutely.
I have been neglecting this blog the past couple of weeks because I've been so busy, but I'll be getting back on schedule this week, so look forward to more posts!
